"Decades before Fender established its famed custom shop, Wayne Charvel did essentially the same thing right in their own back yard. A one-time Fender employee, Charvel began manufacturing and assembling custom Strat-esque guitars that became extremely popular with the metal crowd of the 80s. Eddie Van Halen, Richie Sambora, George Lynch, and even Randy Rhoads were enthusiastic clients. The business was eventually bought out by Grover Jackson and operated through the 80s. In a flash of true irony, Fender would later acquire Jackson, which included Charvel as one of its subsidiaries.
The San Dimas model is named for the company's former headquarters and is pretty identical in form to the hardtail Strats we all know and love. A pair of Duncan humbuckers is a great way to show your teenage son that, even though you might be old, you'd still cheat on his mother if the right opportunity presented itself. This particular example has been upgraded with an additional volume control pot for complete control in tonal blending. A beautiful Surf Green finish with matching headstock screams Southern California and is a pleasant homage to the roots of the company. The quality of these Custom Shop Charvels will outdo just anything out there, and you'll look damn good while playing it."
