1968 Fender Stratocaster
1968 Factory Black Fender Stratocaster with a "22SEP68B" neck stamp. This CBS workhorse is pleasantly lightweight at 7 lbs 8oz and plays beautifully with a replaced nut and new frets (recently plek'd by Mike Lull) for a smooth, updated feel. Modifications include an added 5-way switch, a few filled string tree and pickguard holes, and evidence of prior tuner reaming on the headstock, which was expertly restored by Gord Miller, who filled the holes and fitted it with era-correct tuners. Cosmetically, it has the kind of honest wear you would hope to see in a vintage Strat with worn edges, dings, scuffing, and the feel of a guitar that’s seen decades of use. Acoustically, it’s vibrant and snappy, with excellent resonance and sustain, which translates beautifully when plugged in with tons of character and mid-range chime from the stock single coil PUs which date to "10-22-68." This guitar is dialed and ready to be played for years to come! Includes original hardshell case and the original 3-way switch.
