1957 Gibson Southern Jumbo
1957 Gibson Southern Jumbo
This '57 Gibson is rather weathered with repaired cracks and heavy finish checking/flaking but that only adds to the impeccable relic'd look of this workhorse acoustic. The Southern Jumbo is the higher-appointed counterpart to the popular J-45 featuring a slope-shoulder dreadnaught body, multi-ply binding, and split-parallelogram fretboard inlays. This example has been over-sprayed but is in Good playing condition and it sounds amazing with impressive volume and a super warm and creamy tone with tight low end and punchy, full-midrange ~ A distinct characteristic of vintage Gibson dreadnoughts. It handles heavy strumming and flatpicking like a champ with incredible dynamics, yet responds equally well to a light touch and fingerpicking with an incredible dynamic range.
